Movie Review: Bite Marks

David Alanson Bradberry and Benjamin Lutz in Bite Marks

Rating: 1.5 out of 5.

Bite Marks is a horror/comedy about a gay couple backpacking cross country. It’s a campy, unapologetic, and self-aware vampire movie that takes a while to get going, and never goes full throttle when it does.

Cary (Windham Beacham) and Vogel (David Alanson Bradberry) are a gay couple backpacking cross country who decide to thumb for a ride to speed things up. They get picked up by Brewster (Benjamin Lutz), a closeted gay trucker carrying coffins, and Vogel starts flirting with him. They stop at a diner, where Brewster catches Cary and Vogel having sex in a toilet stall. Brewster gets turned on, panics, and leaves. And once on the road again, Vogel turns his flirtations up a notch with Brewster, who doesn’t back away, and we get the promise of some steamy sex. However, all that comes of it is a blowjob.

When the truck breaks down in front of an auto salvage lot, Brewster is confused because the GPS thinks they reached their destination. Brewster goes into the office and has the man at the desk call a mechanic. Night has finally come, and the vampires show themselves. From here it’s all slightly amusing comedy and no suspense.

Bite Marks is the type of movie that people go into with low expectations. It doesn’t matter that the acting is bad, and the production values are low, it just needs to be entertaining. Although Bite Marks will hold your attention, it doesn’t deliver on the promise of comedy, suspense, or sex.

I give Bite Marks one star for being watchable and half a star for the concept. If it had delivered more sexiness and a few decent jokes or scares, this would have scored much higher.
