Mutt (4 stars)
Mutt is a film about 24 hours in the life of a transgender man. The characters and situations ring true, and the script is thoughtful and never feels preachy or heavy handed.
Runs in the Family (4 stars)
Runs in the Family is about a father and his transgender son traveling across South Africa to rescue his son’s estranged mother. It’s delightfully quirky characters and shady dealings make for a fun romp. And if you’re the type to re-watch a film, Runs in the Family will feel like a different movie the second time around.

Venus (2.5 stars)
Venus (2017) is a drama about Sid (Debargo Sanyal), a transgender woman who discovers that she has a teenage son while she starts to transition. Sanyal’s portrayal of a transgender woman living in a world that doesn’t always accept her is easily relatable.

Saturday Chruch (4 stars)
Saturday Church is the story of Ulysses, a shy and reserved gay high school student overcoming adversity after the death of his father. The acting overall is good, and the situations feel authentic. MJ Rodriguez and Indya Moore play characters similar to the ones they portrayed in Pose.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert (5 stars)
In The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, three drag queens–one is a transgender woman–set out on a road trip through the dessert to perform a four-week gig at a casino. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is outrageous fun that should not be missed.
