The Story:
Another Gay Movie is a comedy about a bunch of high school grads eager to lose their virginity.
Four gay students from San Torum High School (Home of the San Torum Donkeys) spend most of their time talking about sex and how much they want to experience anal penetration. The friends are, Andy (Michael Carbonaro), a chronic masturbator; Jarod (Jonathan Chase), an insecure gay jock who secretly has the hots for Griff; Griff (Mitch Morris), a well-dressed nerd who harbors a love for Jarod; and Nico (Jonah Blechman), a flamboyant queen. Upon graduation, they make a pack to have sex by the end of the summer. As you would expect, the movie is about their sexual antics during that time.
Some Thoughts:
Another Gay Movie is a teen sex comedy, so nobody watching this should expect highbrow humor or good acting. If you go into the movie with this in mind, the only disappointment will be the insensitive jokes about race and the disabled. If I wasn’t reviewing the film, I would have turned it off. It’s a shame because the rest of it isn’t bad for what it is.
The plot is unrealistic, foolish, and full of stereotypes. Since the movie is made to be a gay version of a straight comedy about teenagers, none of that matters. The story’s only purpose is to be a vehicle for a bunch of juvenile jokes, which is to be expected. And because this is a gay sex comedy, it’s over the top and full of campy fun.
It was also good to see Graham Norton make an appearance as Mr. Puckov, a teacher who Andy has sexual fantasies over, and Scott Thompson as Andy’s father.
I would have given Another Gay Movie a higher score if it wasn’t for the tasteless jokes laughing at race and people with disabilities. It’s unfortunate because I generally enjoy movies that aren’t ashamed to be guilty pleasures.
The Final Verdict:
If you enjoy teen sex comedies and can get past some insensitive humor, then Another Gay Movie is a decent choice.
