If you’re new to Dead by Daylight and want to improve your game, this post is here to help. Let it be known from the start that I’m fairly new to the game and have been lucky enough to get some great advice from a group of skilled players. Talking to them has helped my game, so I’m simply sharing what I have learned thus far.
Be a Team Player
Dead by Daylight is a team game, so you should help your teammates escape. That sometimes means having the killer chase you away from a hook so another player can unhook them. It could also mean taking the hit for a player who has already been on the hook once or twice.
Repair Generators That Are Not Close Together

While it’s great to repair generators, it’s best to do them on opposite sides of the map. The last thing you want is to have the final three generators in close proximity, which would make your team an easy target for the killer. Another good way to do gen repairs is to work from the inside of the map to the outside. The goal is to keep the killer running from one end of the map to the other hoping to find you.
Don’t Stay Together
If you stay in a group, it makes it easy for the killer to peg you off one by one. Split up, especially if you start the game together. If possible, go to the opposite sides of the map and find a generator to repair.
Heal Other Players

Try to heal a player after unhooking them only if you can do it safely. Some players would rather do generators rather than being healed, so don’t be upset if they run from you when you try to heal them. Also, if another player runs up to you and squats, that’s a sign that they want to be healed.
Do Something
Repair a generator, bless a totem, cleans a totem, get chased by the killer, unhook a teammate. If you walk around doing nothing, then it will take longer for your team to get out, and you’re probably going to be found and hooked.
Get Out Alive

This is the ultimate goal. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go back for a teammate who is down or on a hook, but not it if it will prevent you from getting out alive. Remember, you get extra points for unhooking or healing once the exit gates are open.
