I love an outrageous and entertaining movie, so I compiled a list of ten that I feel are worth your time. I’m talking about movies that make you stop and say WFT at least once. You know what I’m talking about, those weird arthouse films that play in independent cinemas that cater to a college crowd. Or that movie a friend told you to see because it was too odd for words. Oh yes, that is what’s on this list. How many have you seen? Take a look and find out.
Liquid Sky

Liquid Sky is fantastically odd and purely entertaining. From the visuals to the plot, there is nothing that isn’t offbeat or weird about this movie. It’s New York City underground in the 1980s at its most bizarre, with a story so out of this world that it needs to be seen.

The Cult

The Cult is a sci-fi gem that refuses to have futuristic visuals while maintaining a dystopian future plot. To truly understand what’s going on, you need to pay attention…and probably watch it twice.
Gerontophilia

Gerontophilia is an enjoyable film that treats the topic of an extreme May – December romance with respect. While some aspects of the story stretch the boundary of believability, the relationship between an eighteen-year-old and an eighty-year-old feels honest and sincere.

Saint Narcisse

Saint Narcisse is a film about narcissism. It’s full of perverted priests, twincest, and family secrets. Nothing is off the table in the arthouse gem that’s not afraid to offend while commenting on our self-obsessed culture.

Love Lies Bleeding

Love Lies Bleeding is a kick ass lesbian romance with bite and some horror. The outrageousness doesn’t happen until the story really kicks into full gear, and you won’t believe it when it does. No spoilers, so I can’t tell you what it is that puts the movie over the top.

Knife + Heart

Knife + Heart is a giallo inspired movie about a lesbian making gay porn that’s set in 1979. The story alone has the promise of outrageousness, and it delivers with style and spectacle.

The Panti Sisters

The Panti Sisters is a movie that gets more outlandish with each scene until you either give in to it or walk away. The acting overall is good, the characters are well defined, and the costumes and makeup are perfect. If you see it, you will not forget it.

Bottoms

Bottoms is a comedy about two high school lesbians who start a female fight club to get laid. If that’s not outrageous enough for you, then I don’t know what is. If you like your satire with bite, this is for you.
Marry My Dead Body

Marry My Dead Body is a gay comedy about a homophobic police officer who is forced into a marriage to a gay man who just happens to be dead. And for that alone, it makes the list. It’s not a very good movie, but it has to be on this list because it truly is outrageous. It’s also worth seeing because you just won’t believe it.

Shortbus

Shortbus is a sex-positive and graphic. It’s wonderfully unapologetic and sexual without being lewd or tawdry. And that is what makes it outrageous. It’s also well done and worth your time.
And there you have it, 10 outrageous LGBT movies that are worth a look. Feel free to reach out to me with movies you think should have been on this list.
