Scourge Hooks are a great way for killers to sacrifice survivors faster and prevent generators from being repaired. They have a white outline that the killer can see to differentiate a regular hook from one that is a scourge. Once the killer carries a survivor, the scourge hooks will be shown in white and the others in red. How a Scourge Hook helps the killer depends upon the perk used to make them. If the killer does not use a scourge hook perk, there won’t be any to use.
How to use Scourge Hooks
As of this writing, there are only six Scourge Hook perks. Of the six, only two are available to all killers. All Scourge Hook perks turn four hooks into Scourge Hooks, except for Scourge Hook: Weeping Wounds and Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine, which begin the trial with eight (four in the basement and four above).
- Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage (The OnryĆ): When a survivor is unhooked, their aura is revealed to the killer.
- Scourge Hook: Hangman’s Trick (The Pig): When a survivor attempts to sabotage any hook, a loud noise alerts the killer.
- Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass (The Houndmaster): The Aura of the generator with the most progression is highlighted in yellow. When a survivor is hooked on a normal hook, it will become a Scourge Hook.
- Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine (all killers): The sacrifice process is accelerated when you are further than 24 meters from the hook.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist): The killer starts with 4 tokens. When a survivor is hooked, 1 token is consumed. The generator with the most progression will explode and start regressing; any survivor working on a generator will scream.
- Scourge Hook: Weeping Wounds (all killers): Causes that Survivor to suffer from the Hemorrhage Status Effect for 90 seconds.
Much like Boon perks, Scourge Hook perks used together will give each hook the effects for each perk used.
In the video below, you can see the Scourge Hooks in white and the regular ones in red. Look for them once The Trickster picks up the downed survivor. Notice how the four in the basement are Scourge Hooks.
Pairing with Other Perks
Scourge Hook perks can be used with similar ones to achieve a goal, such as bleeding out injured survivors (Weeping Wounds, Monstrous Shrine), slowing generator progression (Pain Resonance, Jagged Compass), or getting information on the survivors (Floods of Rage, Hangman’s Trick). As with any perk, how you use them depends on your goal. Play around with the perks you have to find the combination that will work for you.
