Dead by Daylight: Slowing Generator Progress for Beginners

Dead by Daylight Generators with Chucky

The primary purpose for this build is to keep generators blocked and blow them up as often as possible. The perks chosen for this goal will accomplish this every time you hook a survivor. All you’ll need to do is hunt the survivors down and throw them on hooks. Although I put this build together for Chucky, whose strength is chase, you can use it on any killer.

The Perks:

Killer Passive Gen Regression Build
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist): You begin with four Scourge Hooks and four tokens. The first time you hook a survivor, you lose a token and the generator with the most progress will explode and begin regressing. It will also lose 10/15/20% progress depending on the perk tier. Scourge Hooks are highlighted in white.
  • Dead Man’s Switch (The Deathslinger): When a survivor is hooked, the first generator that stops being repaired is blocked for 25/30/35 seconds. The generator being blocked will be highlighted in white.
  • Grim Embrace (The Artist): The first time you hook a survivor, you gain one token. When a survivor is hooked and you’re 16 meters away, you get the following effect depending on how many tokens you have:
    • 1-3 tokens: all generators are blocked for 6/8/10 seconds
    • 4 tokens: all generators are blocked for 40 seconds, and you see the obsessions aura for 6 seconds
    • The obsession’s aura is revealed for 5 seconds.
  • Lethal Persuer (The Nemesis): At the start of the trial, the aura of all survivors will be seen for 7/8/9 seconds depending on the perk tier. It also adds 2 seconds to all aura readings.

How It Works

Since this build requires you to down survivors in order to work, Lethal Pursuer will get the ball rolling quick. It will show you where the survivors are as the game begins so you can get down to business. Also, if you use the Add-ons Rat Poison and/or Yardstick, it will add two seconds to their aura reading.

  • Rat Poison: when you do a Slice and Dice you will see the auras of all survivors within 6 meters for 2.5 seconds.
  • Yardstick: When you Scamper, the aura of survivors within 16 meters will be visible for 3 seconds.

Dead Man’s Switch, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, and Grim Embrace work well together. Dead Man’s Switch will activate, showing you a generator that is actively being worked on and blocking it. Grim Embrace will block all generators once you move away from the hook. If the survivor is on a Scourge Hook for the first time, Pain Resonance will add to the fun.

Since this build uses Grim Embrace and Pain Resonance, you will need to keep track of who you hooked. Once you’ve played a few trials, this will come second nature. For new players, it will get you in the habit of keeping track of where survivors are on the map.
