Dead by Daylight: Activity Icons for Beginners

Dead by Daylight Adam Francis looking up.

Because Dead by Daylight is a team game, it’s helpful to know what your tthe other players are doing. One way of knowing how this is by checking their Character Icons, which I covered in my post, Dead by Daylight: Character Icons for Beginners. Another way is to look at the Activity Icons to the right of the Character Icons. The Activity Icons will tell you if a player is mending themselves, healing another player, working on a generator, etc…

There are ten activity icons, each with their own image. They are as follows:

  1. Blessing a Totem: a totem with stars
  2. Cleansing a Totem: a totem
  3. Altruistic Healing (healing another person): a plus sign in a box
  4. Personal Healing (healing yourself): a plus sign in a box with white triangles at the top and bottom
  5. Interacting with a Killer Power or a related Prop: a skull in an upside-down pentagon
  6. Opening an Exit Gate: the exit gate lever
  7. Recovering while in the Dying State: a plus sign in a circle
  8. Repairing a Generator: a generator
  9. Performing an Invocation; a drawn circle
  10. Unlocking a Chest: a chest

When a player is performing an activity, a progression bar will surround the icon to show how far along they are. This is helpful when it comes to knowing if your team is busy with generator repairs or how quickly you can heal a downed player.

The icons below show that the player on top (me) has started blessing a totem. Notice how the progress bar around the totem with the stars (blessing a totem) has just started. The player at the bottom is close to finishing a generator.

Healing Activity Icons

Of the ten Activity Icons, there are three specifically for healing: Altruistic, Personal, and Recovering. Personal and Altruistic have a plus sign in a box while Recovering is a plus sign in a circle. If a player cannot be healed, a small plus sign in a strike out circle will be displayed.

The image below shows that the bottom player is healing themselves and the player above them cannot be healed (the small plus in a strike out circle). We know that the player at on the bottom is close to being fully healed because the progress bar circling the icon is almost complete.

The next image shows that Zachary (me) cannot be healed, the next player down has just started repairing a generator, and the third person down is interacting with the killer in some way. This person also cannot be healed (the small plus sign in the strike out circle).

Personal Healing happens when a player is down. Unless that player has a perk that allows them to heal fully, they’ll only be able to heal most of the way, another player will need to finish the job. So, if you see a player who is down and healing themselves, see if you can help them out.

The image below shows that I am down and healing myself (Personal Healing).
