Dead by Daylight, Finding Generators for Beginners

David King generator repair Dead by Daylight

One of the first thigs beginners learn to do in Dead by Daylight is repairing generators. It’s a fairly simple task and a good way to improve your skill check abilities. Walk up to a generator, hit the appropriate button on your controller or keyboard, then go to town.

If you can find a generator, it’s great, but they’re not always out in the open. To see where the gens are, you could use the perk Déjà Vu, which shows the aura of the closest three generators, but what if you want to use that perk slot for something else? After all, you can only use four perks. Well, I’m here to help.

Finding Generators Without a Perk

If you’re on a map that takes place outside, look up. Generators have lights above them, which makes them easy to find. If the light is blinking, it needs to be done, if it’s steady, it means it’s done. If you’re on an inside map, look for rooms with blinking lights. You can find one inside, although you may still have to look around.

Interior maps like the Gideon Meat Plant that are mostly long halls with sliding doors are more difficult. Look for closed sliding doors. If the doors are closed and you don’t see a gen, that means it’s behind it. Go around to the other side of the doors to find the gen. As an added bonus, once the generator is completed, the doors will open.

Turn on the Heartbeat

Although this is a general tip, it’s good to have the Heartbeat Visual Support on when repairing generators. This will cause a beating heart to appear when the killer is close. The heart will grow depending on how close the killer is.

To Turn on Heartbeat Visual Support, go to Settings > ACCESSIBILITY.

Hopefully these tips will help you find generators without having to use a perk. And as always, feel free to reach out to me on social media with questions, comments, or just to say hello.

Disclosure: I’m a fairly new player to Dead by Daylight. The purpose of this post is to share what I have learned thus far.
